Ddddl-dddl…

My two writing buddies and I have been away on another writing jaunt, this time on the coast in Devon. We spend time in our accommodation writing, and reading, but we also go out to find inspiration and to refresh our writing vibes. We went into Totnes,, and what a lovely town it is – I’d never visited before, but I’m pretty sure I’ll return to visit again. It’s very old and of great historic significance and we’ve ventured in on a couple of occasions, to explore and to visit the many and various bookshops (who were no doubt very grateful for our visit and our custom! We may return. There are a great many cafés, some of which we’ve been in to sample their coffee and cake, and a number of good butchers and bakers – no candlestick makers so far, but a wonderful cheese shop.

It struck me the other day as we walked into the town from the carpark, that in a fanciful way (we are writers after all) we were on a mission, striding out in search of books, bread, cheese and coffee, and in my mind we had a theme tune, as if we were in a movie. I was indeed being fanciful! However, as we marched on, not speaking to each other, focused books/bread/cheese/coffee I almost had a theme tune running through my head as if we were in a film – maybe Ennio Morricone style, maybe we should sport cowboy hats and spurs to jangle as we stride towards our targets. I even wrote it (in my head, I couldn’t sing it – much as I love music I can’t carry a tune) – Ddddl-dddl-der, der-der-de!!! Please feel free to use it, next time you’re striding somewhere on a mission!

PS Mission was accomplished, (many)books/bread/(much)cheese bought, coffee drunk plus bonus cake!
