Of course it would!!!

Usually I sit down here in front of my computer (well, laptop actually), have a few minutes thought and then launch into whatever it is, but twice this evening I’ve followed my usual procedure and… and zilch. Empty head. No random thoughts, no nonsense to waffle about, no inspiration or ponderings… empty.

I met my writing friends the poet Macaque and Fenja Hill for coffee this morning and we wittered on about the usual things before going in separate directions. I went to a supermarket for some grocery items, and as well as everything on my list, I saw in the salad chill section a bag of ingredients for my favourite, Caesar salad, so I put not one but two into my basket and picked up some cooked chicken. I headed home and had lunch with husband ( Caesar salad saved for later) then I made up a package to send to a friend and headed to the post office. The post office is in the next village from us, Bleadon and as well as the post office counter there’s a small grocery/bakery where there are often gooey cakes. I thought it would be nice to get a couple to take home for husband and me to enjoy with a cup of tea. Sadly, no gooey cakes, only rather plain sponges, so I didn’t bother.

This afternoon I continued editing my next Radwinter (how many times have you read this from me??) and then I went downstairs again where – guess what? There was World Cup Football on the TV. I haven’t any real or particular interest in footie, but since our gallant lads were playing I sat down to watch them win, but only just. I was still sitting on the settee when suddenly, without warning… zzzzzzz, zzzzzzz, zzz… yes I fell asleep! I wasn’t in the land of nod or the arms of Morpheus for very long, maybe twenty minutes or half an hour, but when I woke up I felt completely disoriented, bleary, befuddled. I gave myself a shake and leaving the tv with its interviews of delighted fans and pundits, I came up here to write.

It’s taken me a while to get a grip and set to with writing this evening. So maybe, before I get back to work, maybe a glass of wine would help, reset my equilibrium? Of course it would!!!

A quick slurp, then back to Radwinter!
