I had a great little adventure today (if something small can be great!) I went over to Cardiff with my daughter and had a day out in this wonderful city. There are so many different places of interest, we hardly scratched the surface of all the things we could see and visit. I travelled over by train which is always an enjoyable experience, even though somehow I missed the first train and had to wait for the next all was well and I arrived in glorious sunshine. After visiting the harbour to see a massive ship which was parked/docked there, we walked along the quay to The Norwegian Church – which is my featured image. It “was once the heart of the Norwegian community in Caerdydd (Cardiff), which Roald Dahl and his family belonged to. Now it’s a thriving arts centre and cafe.” The first thing time I remember coming across Dahl was when I was a young teacher, and ‘Fantastic Mr Fox‘ was the book on the syllabus for my class, but I also read his “Tales of the Unexpected” although obviously not to eleven year-old children!
We had a most enjoyable day with a lovely lunch (my favourite, Caesar salad!)and I was surprised to see when I checked my fitness thingy that I’d walked five miles! I caught the train home and had to change at Bristol, which was no problem, except because I had to wait for a while, I took a book out to read, and then, typical me, the train came and I left my book on the bench! It was “Smiley’s People” the last in John le Carré’s third book in his Karla trilogy, I have read it many times before, but it is the one I’ve read least. I was enjoying reading it as a paperback (as I originally did of course) because now most of my reading is e-reading.I will ring lost property at Temple Meads railway station tomorrow, but I doubt it will have been handed in. If that is the case, then i will buy another paperback and start again!
Next time I travel by train I must heed the announcement which always ends with”… and be sure to take all your belongings with you”!
