It was twenty years ago today…

… twenty years ago today, and nothing at all to do with Sergeant Pepper teaching his band to play, on 20th November 1992, my son was born in Oldham Royal Hospital.

It was a beautiful autumn day, the sky was a brilliant azure, the sun so bright and bouncing off every golden and copper coloured leaf. My husband and I went up to the theatre, he had to be masked and gowned but they could not find hospital clogs big enough for his size 13 feet so they tied two paper hats over his socks.

Everything went perfectly, and as my son was born, they were playing ‘The Teddy-bears Picnic’ over the radio.

A wonderful day! Happy birthday!

Two minutes old
Two hours old
All grown up now, enjoying a night out with his sister!
