The best cop show ever

It only ran for two series, but ‘Boom Town’ was the best cop show I have ever watched, I have the DVD and I can watch it over and over and never tire of it.

It has everything, brilliant acting, great story lines, wit, tension, drama, tragedy, comedy… the smallest acting part adds depth to each scene… why it was cancelled halfway through the second series, I just cannot imagine.

The premise was that each episode  should contain various story-lines told from the different points of view of the characters, so there might be the same scene shot in different ways reflecting how the policeman, the paramedic, the detective, the reporter or the DA viewed it.

The actors… well, what can I say, Donnie Wahlberg, Neal McDonnough, Mykelti Williamson, Gary Basaraba, Nina Garbiras, Lana Perilla and Jason Gedrick… faultless, utterly convincing and brilliant, subtle, clever, consistent, they should have received a heap of awards.

As the by-line on the cover says, ‘one crime, seen from every point of view… all leading to the truth.

‘Boom Town’ is available on DVD… honestly, you should buy it, you’ll enjoy it, I know you will!

It’s so engaging and it has everything – there are some laugh out loud moments, and some which bring you near to tears, as well as the edge of the seat really gripping parts! if you do get hold of the sets, I recommend you watch them in order because although each episode is stand alone, there are some threads running through concerning the characters which build to some unexpected climaxes.

I’m the biggest McNorris fangirl, haha. I was in school when I first saw this show. Still remembered it years later and tracked it down online to watch the whole series. Brilliant show although the aborted 2nd season isn’t as good as the first. Might have to get the DVD out for a Boomtown marathon soon. 🙂

Ooooooh, McNorris!! You must get the DVD… I would have liked o see how the second series developed though, it wasn’t as good, you’re right, but there were some interesting things going on!
David McNorris was the inspiration for a character in the novel I’m editing now… but only in looks, and that killer grin!
