City of dreaming spires

I went with a group of friends to Oxford, that city of dreaming spires and rival to my home town of Cambridge… well I’m open minded; it’s a lovely city, of course it is, but not a patch on Cambridge, but I would say that, wouldn’t I?

Here is a selection of pictures which I took as we wandered, I think the college is Christ’s but I’m not completely sure… I should have taken more notice, shouldn’t I? By the way, Matthew Arnold was the poet I quoted  the poem ‘Thyrsis’.DSCF2243DSCF2241DSCF2246DSCF2245DSCF2244DSCF2251DSCF2250DSCF2249DSCF2248DSCF2252DSCF2253DSCF2254DSCF2256

Seagull, pheasant, pheasant, jackdaw, jackdaw… I just missed the deer running across the ice in the background!

🙂 … I won’t go into the boat race debate except to say it was a shame that this year’s race ended as it did – it wasn’t fair on either teams when that idiot swam into their boats… I would have liked them to have raced again, and then we could have truly claimed the victory!!
