My friend Dave Johnson, aka Alf Tupper recently completed the London Marathon in the amazing time of 4 hours and 25 seconds; he had hope to get under the 4 hour mark but was just twenty-five measly seconds over! It matters not! He finished and in doing so raised a huge amount of money for two deserving charities, MIND and Weston Hospice care. He had hoped to raise about £600 for each charity, in fact, thanks to sponsors generosity he went over £700 and set a new target of £750. Here is his latest newsletter:
Congratulations to Weston Hospicecare who have made it to the London Marathon sponsorship finish line and will soon collect their prize money of £750.00! They could not have done it without your fantastic support so massive thanks once again to all of you who have donated. Still running but closing in on the finish line are Mind, with only £43.83 needed to assist them in the final mile!
“Come on Mind, you can do it (cough, wheeze). Keep going Mind, not far to go now (gasp, puff). If Alf Tupper can do it, you can do it Mind (I’m never going to finish). It’s just a case of mind over matter Mind. Man up Mind!!”
Can you assist Mind to cross the London Marathon sponsorship finish line the way the London crowds helped Alf? Only £43.83 needed to emulate their great friend and rival, Weston Hospicecare, in achieving the remarkable result of £750.00 donated.
