5:2 diet – a success!

A few months ago I mentioned that my husband, a fine figure of a man, was trying to lose some weight and had embarked on the 5:2 diet – fasting for two days, eating sensibly but normally for the other five. It has really suited him, and thanks to a little imagination and careful shopping he has actually enjoyed his fast days. An added and unexpected bonus is that on his non-fast days he began to eat less, stopping when he was full and not snacking as he used to.

I am so proud of him because he has achieved his goal, he has lost 20lbs! OK, so the warm weather doesn’t incline anyone to eat, but he has stuck to his diet and has now had to buy new trousers! I’m sure he will maintain his new and comfortable weight, and will be able to have the occasional fast day if he feels he needs to.  Well done Bari!

Fine achievement indeed. Fasting is becoming more and more popular and many people are trying for either weight loss and/or other health benefits.

Hi Lois…not sure about the fasting bit! How does it compare with just eating less anyway.

Where was the photo taken of the early model Spitfire? I am envious!

Hi Don, the fasting looks at first glance quite extreme, only 600 calories, but with imagination and planning it was easy, achievable, and actually enjoyable! As I mentioned it also made him think differently about food and is now much more conscious of snacking and portion size… just naturally so I mean without feeling as if he’s ‘on a diet’ for his five free days.
The Spitfire was at a Dutch Air Force museum at Soesterberg which we visited a month ago with friends while we were over there. He is mad about Spitfires so he was delighted to see this one!

I’ll give some thought to it Lois.

The Spitfire is quite an early marque….does he know which? It could be a MkV with unclipped wings.
