In 1066 it had vineyards and pigs, in 1759 the British Museum opened there, but for many people Bloomsbury’s main association is with the Bloomsbury group of writers and artists, including the Woolfs, John Maynard Keynes, E.M. Forster, Lyttonn Strachey, the Bells and the Garnets. Fittingly, perhaps, Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes were married in The church of St George the Martyr
