Thank you, strangers

Thank you to all the people who helped my daughter when her car for no apparent reason slipped of the road and into a stand of trees on the edge of a quite deep ditch in the middle of nowhere.

Thank you to the motorists who stopped to help her, and the person who let her sit in his car.

Thank you to her friend Zoe who rang everyone she could think of to try and get in touch with us and to get help for my daughter… we were with friends in Devon and in a dead area for phones.

Thank you to her friend Callum who drove over even though he had only just got back from holiday after a dreadful drive through ghastly traffic; thank you Callum for the hugs you gave and for driving my daughter home.

Thank you to the Fire Brigade and the fire officers on the fire engine who came to rescue her, and let her sit in their fire engine.

Thank you to the police who attended, and put police tape on the car so people would know it was not just abandoned.

Thank you to the medic who checked she was OK.

Thank you to the RAC man who came and got the car out of the ditch, checked it over and helped us get it home.

Thank you to the young man who stopped and asked me if I was all right while I waited in our car with the hazard lights flashing to warn other road users that there was an RAC van round the corner struggling to get a car out of a ditch. Thank you to all those others who stopped their cars to check we didn’t need more help and that we were all fine.

In this world where there is so much sad news, and so many people who don’t seem to care for anyone else, I am convinced there are far more nice, kind, loving, helpful people… Thank you to all the friends and strangers who helped my daughter.

Thanks… at the time we were just concerned about her, obviously, but later I thought about all the people, just passing by who stopped, not to stare, but to offer help of any kind… Most people in the world are kind,, I’m sure

It was horrid, but thankfully she is without any injuries, no whip-lash, no bruising, nothing… just broken hearted that her little car is so damaged!
I was genuinely touched by how many people stopped with various offers of help!
