One of those days

it should have been a well-organised day; I got up early, before the alarm went off and set to prepare work for my English conversation class. There are usually four teachers and three helpers but I knew two of the teachers wouldn’t be with us today.

I quickly checked my emails, my networks, and my blog… and what? Another missing post! I wrote on May 1st that one of my blogs had vanished, one about settings of novels and stories, quite a long and well thought out post I had reckoned. The link was there on Twitter, but clicking on it took me (and any other readers) straight to a different post. Infuriating! Lo and behold, another post from yesterday had also vanished – yes, the link was on Twitter but the post had disappeared; this one had taken about an hour to write as I was comparing different TV programmes. I spoke to one of the WordPress techs through the ‘Howdy can I help you?’ dialogue box… and lost time which I should have spent on getting my teaching materials ready!

No matter; I made tea and coffee for the family, breakfast and packed lunch for my son, got all my things ready and set off to arrive at the church hall where we teach… and it was locked.

never mind; I sat in my car and waited for someone to come as they usually do… and waited… and waited… one of the students, my friend Emma arrived and waited in the car with me while I rang someone from the church… all the officials were in London  but someone would open the church hall at 9:00. Another student arrived, Delphine and also sat in the car, then Barry, one of the helpers, arrived and sat in the car… I rang someone again who couldn’t understand why we were still waiting… eventually the caretaker arrived and let us in. We could only get into the hall,we couldn’t access the church where some of our materials are kept… oh well…

While Emma and Delphine and Barry organised the teaching room, I quickly went to make coffee and get things ready for the break. The dishwasher has to be switched on to get it ready to use later, I switched it on… and the kitchen flooded…

The other two helpers arrived but the other teacher didn’t… would I be on my own? At 9:35 she did arrive – she had lost her keys; luckily she had found them but she was all in a fluster…

Goodness knows what the students thought! I think they enjoyed the lesson though, they were all chatting away at the end which is always a good sign for an English Conversation class!
