I am working to finish my next novel to be published on kindle a an ebook, The Double Act; I mentioned before that the opening chapters seem to suggest it is going to be a romance, a story of two people who fall in love despite the impossibility of them ever being together… well.. that maybe part of it, but the Double Act of the title is not this couple, nor is it either of them with their respective partners… but you will have to read the book to find the secret of the double act!
The subtitle of ‘dark love’ is a perverse and twisted love, a love which is dangerous, a love which is not kind but cruel; at one point the famous quotation from the Bible, from the first epistle to the Corinthians chapter thirteen, verses 1-11 is mentioned. Dark love is the opposite of the ‘charity’ of the Bible. Dark love isn’t tolerant, is envious, is arrogant, is unseemly and self-serving; dark love is easily provoked and always things the worst, and lies, and lies and lies. Dark love is negative, and only hopes for evil for others, and will not tolerate opposition.
I hope I have managed in my novel, The Double Act, to slowly bring to the fore this perverse other side of true love, and that the reader will be drawn into the mystery to try and discover the truth, and to hope that somehow the love of the bright and the good will triumph over the perverse, destructive and dangerous dark love.
