I just saw a news item, I don’t know if it is true, but Yellow Pages classified directory is going to cease to be published. Good grief!! No Yellow Pages!!
Apparently the idea of printing on yellow rather than white was a decision born of necessity when in 1883, a printer in Cheyenne, Wyoming who was printing a directory ran out of the white paper. The first purpose printed yellow paper directory arrived three years later in 1886 when a Mr Reuben H. Donnelley published the first official Yellow Pages directory.
I guess many people will think of Yellow Pages and think of some classic adverts:

We’re becoming the land of the incredible shrinking phone books, over here. Every time a new one comes, I’m shocked, but it seems I get used to it just in time to be shocked by the next one. They’re getting very, very thin.
