It was our wedding anniversary at th end of October, and I made up a hamper of goodies for my beloved… including several cheeses, one of which we hadn’t tried before. We left it for a few days, then had a look…

I have to say that it was rather disappointing… maybe we were just unlucky, maybe somewhere along the line it had been chilled too much, but it had little flavour, little aroma and didn’t flow in that lovely camembert way… We may try it again, but it was not that impressive.

That’s a shame.

It was… we were really looking forward to it… never mind, we had Pont l’Eveque last night which was delish – we cooked it in a tartiflette… but I forgot to take pictures!

I’m jealous – I love good cheese. Fancy not taking photos – on second thoughts, it is just as well as my stomach would have been rumbling.

Yes, don’t forget = will you be putting the recipe on?

Yes, although it’s simplicity itself, layers of potatoes fried onion and fried bacon, a few dollops of cream, a splosh of white wine and a soft cheese like Reblochon or Pont l’Eveque cut in two and cut side face down on the spuds, then into the oven until it’s golden and the cheese has melted!

I’ve not been here that long – I think the sausages are popular but I didn’t know they were famous for their pork pies I’ve not come across that yet..

Louth is lovely especially at Christmas time, I think when they decorate it nicely. Lincoln is a lovely city, well worth a visit if you haven’t been and you’re up here.

I can’t actually tell which I prefer: brie or camembert. Deep-fried however, they both taste nice 🙂

I think I prefer a good Camembert if I had to make a choice… but the thought of deep frying either of them is delicious!
