There’s no sound of dreadful youtube videos by annoying geeky scientists with even more annoying voices, no sound of ‘Homes Under The Hammer’ or ‘The Big Bang Theory’… the washing machine isn’t whirring endlessly to get work clothes or going out clothes ready… the children have left home…

Very… all those empty rooms… I keep thinking of the electricity we’re saving and how we don’t have to wait hours for the bathroom!

Same here – and the worst thing is there’s absolutely no excuse for getting on with the writing but I think that’s more scary than having children! 🙂

This might make it seem not so bad. Yesterday, I was in the shower and there was the most dreadful banging on the bathroom door. The shampoo went in my eyes and I nearly slipped. Dressing gown on, I unlocked the door to find Will waiting to tell me that he had found out about an awful death of an ancestor whilst researching the newspaper archives. I thought the house was on fire – I bet you feel slightly better.

I’m glad it cheered you – I can imagine how strange it feels at first when your children go off to university.

I’m not in mourning like some people are, and I don’t have empty nest syndrome, I have plenty to do, it’s just quiet… and yes, I do miss them!

I know what you mean about the quiet, it can be as disruptive as noise if you’re used to noise.
